Killabee Gaming Chair Review

When getting a new gaming chair you have two options.

Spend less and get a budget chair that might not last or spend a bit more and get one that’s going to last.

So the question is, are Killabee gaming chairs going to last?

They’re definitely considered a cheap gaming chair, so how do they rate in terms of quality?

In this review, I’ll take an in-depth look at their range of chairs to see if they’re worth your time.

I’ll also mention some worthy alternatives that you should consider.

Killabee was founded in 2001 as an office chair manufacturer. Their headquarters are situated in Nanjing, China and they also have warehouses in Ontario, Canada.

In 2013 Killabee started creating gaming chairs, which is the range that made them popular.

Somewhere along the line, they decided to create a budget line of gaming chairs called Von Racer, and those models we will be reviewing in this article.

They also have a high-end line of chairs called Fantasy Lab with substantially higher grade materials but also higher pricing.

They promise excellence in terms of manufacturing quality, service efficiency, and customer support. So let’s look at the Von Racer bestsellers and find out if they’ve kept their promise.

Killabee Massage Gaming Chair

Killabee Massage Gaming Chair

  • PU leather upholstery
  • Retractable footrest
  • Reclines to 175º
  • Maximum weight capacity of 250 lbs

The Killabee massage gaming chair comes at a budget-friendly price that won’t break the bank.

One would still expect to get value for their buck, so let’s look at the good and the bad. On the positive side, this chair comes with an attractive racing design that will look flattering in any room.

In the package you also get a lumbar pillow that vibrates, offering a light massage experience.

The arms are static and padded, which might be troublesome for some but they can’t be removed during assembly because they connect the seat to the backrest.

The backrest is definitely on the tall side measuring 31.9’’ of length, which would be enough for people up to 6’2’’ tall. You can recline to 175º, but the chair doesn’t rock.

The seat is adjustable from 16.5’’ to 19.3’’ off the floor, and the entire chair is upholstered with PU leather, which is great at this price point.

The only thing to mention here is that PU leather tends to keep you warm compared to mesh chairs. The padding on this chair is decent but tends to get flat after a few months of use.

On the negative side, a few people that got this chair find it uncomfortable to sit in and not very durable.

Some have had issues with wobbly arms, others with the reclining mechanism, and some with the flaking of the PU leather.

What We Like

  • Lumbar pillow vibrates
  • Reclining feature
  • Comfortable footrest

What We Don’t Like

  • Does not rock
  • Padding last long
  • Wobbly arms

Killabee Reclining Massage Gaming Chair

Killabee Reclining Massage Gaming Chair

  • PU leather upholstery
  • Reclines to 155º
  • Retractable footrest
  • Maximum weight capacity of 350 lbs

The Killabee reclining gaming chair comes with a lot more cushion than the previous model.

The chair is padded with one layer of high-density foam and another layer of memory foam to keep you comfortable while you’re gaming.

The lumbar cushion also features a 3 speed massage function. For it to work, you’ll need to plug it into an outlet, a USB port, or a wireless charger, but the cord they’ve included is only 4’ long.

Both the lumbar and headrest pillow are adjustable and soft when you lean into them. The backrest is 32.7’’ long and reclines to 155º. You can also lock it in any position between 90 and 155º.

This chair rocks to an angle of 20º, but if you tighten the rocking tension knob it only rocks to an angle of 10º. The seat is 22.4’’ wide and comfortable for long hours.

The upholstery on this chair is made from PU leather, and the arms are hard plastic. They move up & down, plus they can be removed in the assembly process.

The Killabee massage gaming chair comes with a retractable footrest that’s not very long, so for most people, it ends up being a calf-rest.

The assembly on this model is pretty difficult. First of all, the chair is heavy and would require two people to set it up. Also, the holes don’t line up in certain cases.

What We Like

  • Memory foam padding
  • Wide and comfortable seat
  • Recline & rock feature

What We Don’t Like

  • USB cable for a lumbar pillow too short
  • Footrest is short for most people
  • Difficult assembly

Killabee Big & Tall 400lb Gaming Chair

Killabee Big & Tall 400lb Gaming Chair

  • Cold cured memory foam padding
  • Adjustable arms
  • Wider backrest & seat
  • Reclines to 155º

The Killabee Big & Tall gaming chair is the sturdiest of the three on our list. This is an executive design that features a tall backrest of 33.5’’, and a generous seat that is 21.7’’ wide.

The seat is padded with 2 layers. You get high density foam as a base layer and memory foam on top. You can control the height of the seat that goes from 20.5’’ to 22.8’’ off the ground.

This model reclines to an angle of 155º and can be locked in any position. It comes with the standard extra pillows, one for the lumbar region and another for the headrest.

The arms are made from hard plastic and they move in 3 directions, back and forth, up & down, and to the sides.

What customers are saying

People that bought this chair are generally dissatisfied. Some have had problems in the assembly process, where parts don’t line up, and others complain of squeaky noises and wobbly arms.

However, the manufacturer offers a 1 year warranty for this chair and they give refunds if you decide to return this chair, so it’s worth a try.

What We Like

  • Large backrest
  • Extra wide seat
  • Good cushion on the seat

What We Don’t Like

  • Parts don’t line up
  • Squeaky noises
  • Wobbly arms

Gtracing Classic Series Gaming Chair

Gtracing has created a decent gaming chair that will be suitable for daily use. The upholstery is made from PU leather that comes in contrasting colors and would look good in a gamer’s room.

Both the arms and the seat are height adjustable but this chair is not made for taller people.

Judging by customer experience this would be a perfect chair for people of average height and weight. The frame is made from metal and its weight capacity is set to 300 lbs.

Adjustability and assembly

You can recline and rock in this chair and the maximum reclining angle is 170º.

Just like most gaming chairs, this one also comes with two support pillows; lumbar & headrest. The lumbar pillow is a bit prominent and it will take about a week to get used to it.

The package arrives packed well and the assembly is easy. People that bought this chair are extremely satisfied with its performance and the well planned out assembly instructions.

The Respawn 110 gaming chair comes with a retractable footrest that allows you to stretch your legs while gaming.

The footrest is best used by people up to 5’6’’ tall because if you’re taller it might turn into a calf rest.

The upholstery is made of bonded leather that feels soft under your skin and doesn’t flake out. It also has segmented padding on the seat, backrest, and arms.

Adjustability and warranty

You can recline in this chair to an angle of 155º and lock it in any position. Overall, it is a sturdy chair that will hold people up to 275 lbs.

You also get 2 support pillows, 1 for the lower back and another for the head.

The manufacturer offers a limited 2 year warranty on all fabric and materials, plus a limited lifetime warranty on the frame.

AKRacing Core Series Ex Gaming Chair

So far all gaming chairs on our list were upholstered in PU leather, but if you live in a warmer climate, you might need cooler material.

This is why I decided to include a gaming chair with breathable fabric upholstery.

Durability and adjustability

The metal frame on this chair is sprayed with an anti-corrosive coating and will hold people up to 330 lbs. The manufacturer offers a 10-year warranty on the frame.

The padding is made from cold-cured foam that is more durable than others, but also firmer. Most people that got this chair, don’t have any issue with the firm padding and say they prefer it this way.

The arms on this model are adjustable in 3 directions: back/forth, up/down, and to the sides. The pivoting arms are the only real downside of this chair because they tend to move on their own.

What I really liked is the backrest that was designed to follow the curve of your spine. Add the lumbar pillow to this equation and you’ve got a decent ergonomic chair at a budget-friendly price.

Dowinx PC Gaming Chair

The Dowinx PC gaming chair is quite the treat for people that love vintage style designs or wish to get away from the standard contrasting colors of gaming chairs.

At first glance, you’ll see that a lot of effort went into creating this chair, especially the diamond stitched embroidery that reminds you of a sports car seat.

The footrest on this model is sturdy and long enough for people up to 6’ tall.

Dowinx has recently upgraded this model for easier assembly and cut the time needed to set it up from 2 hours down to 30 minutes.

The upholstery has been also upgraded, and the new PU leather actually feels like real leather.

Almost everyone that bought this chair is extremely pleased with its aesthetics, comfort, and durability. In other words, this purchase would be totally worth it.

In my opinion, this gaming chair offers the best value from all the chairs on our list. One more thing worth mentioning – the Dowinx customer service is extremely responsive and polite.

Homall Big & Tall Gaming Chair

The Homall Big & Tall gaming chair is currently the #1 bestseller on Amazon and has a 4.4 star rating out of more than 30.000 reviews. Let’s see why.

The first thing people customers rave about is the comfortable padding found on the seat and backrest. It’s made from molded foam and will be comfortable for long hours of gaming.

The arms are also padded, but they’re static. Some people prefer it this way because most adjustable arms on budget chairs tend to wobble a bit.

On the downside, the support pillows are a bit stiff but once they get broken in you’ll notice the difference. Assembly of the chair is easy and your total set up time should be around 30 minutes.

Overall, people that got this chair say it provides insane value for money.

I really wanted to like Killabee’s gaming chairs. The name sounds catchy, and their designs are attractive.

Unfortunately, the number of unhappy customers beats the good aspects of their chairs, leading me to believe that Killabee may not do quality checks, specifically on their budget lines.

After examining the pricing on this budget line and comparing it to the quality provided, it’s clear that Killabee is charging more than they should while delivering a less than average product.

I have also found several people that Killabee offered from $50-$80 to remove their negative reviews on Amazon, but those people decided to be honest and spoke about it.

With regards to my Killabee gaming chair review, I am convinced that you would be better off choosing one of the amazing alternative brands I’ve mentioned above.
