HAG Capisco Chair Review- A Worthy Ergonomic Choice?

In order to promote healthy work habits, we’ve written extensively about the benefits of active sitting.

And one way you can improve your health while sitting is by using an effective saddle chair.

If you’ve been looking for a high-end saddle chair, you probably already know about the HAG Capisco range.

Even the famous MMA commentator and stand-up comedian, Joe Rogan endorsed the chair on his podcast.

But is it really worth the hype? Is it a worthy ergonomic choice?

In this in-depth review, we take look at the two most wanted Capisco chairs: the company behind the product, and what makes those chairs so special.

It might be true that Joe Rogan’s endorsement helped boost the popularity of this chair, but we saw and heard an overwhelming number of fans that are raving about it.

Hag Capisco Office Chair with Saddle Seat

Hag Capisco Office Chair with Saddle Seat

  • Award-winning ergonomic chair
  • Allows for more than 5 sitting positions
  • Good for standing desks

The Hag Capisco office chair is the most comfortable one in their line, since it’s fully padded on all seating and leaning surfaces.

It still takes some time getting used to (it is not your everyday chair) but customers say that using it has helped with their back pain.

Capisco can be used sitting backwards and side-ways, or you can use its pneumatic lift to raise it and match it with a standing desk.

Further adjustments can be made that include back height and tilt, and seat height.

The saddle seat design places your hips in an open sitting position that mimics the natural line of the body, making it a perfect choice for upgrading your sitting habits.

Something that people might find is lacking – the seat needs some extra cushions since it gets uncomfortable after long hours of sitting.

Not to be confused with the Capisco Puls model that comes with a partial seat cushion.

The Puls Plus model is very comfy for your behind as some people really appreciate/need that extra cushion. Both Puls, and Puls Plus models have a narrower saddle than the Capisco model.

Other than that, there is a slight difference design-wise. The rest remains the same as our favorite model.

The chair is made using recyclable materials, and almost completely recyclable itself.

It follows the natural S shape of the spine, and offers many sitting positions.

We have to mention that many people mention the foot rest and how useful it is, especially when playing instruments such as the guitar.

“To improve one person’s life a day” was the thought that CEO David Kahl had in mind when creating the Capisco chair.

His product is offered with a 30-day hassle free return policy for people in the US. If you’re ordering from Canada you’ll need to pay for the shipment.

David Kahl is also responsible for creating the Jarvis standing desk, a great ergonomic product that has been matched perfectly to this chair for a fully ergonomic experience.

The Capisco chair was designed to improve your life at work and at home. Let’s take a look at the reasons why this chair is so special.

Active Sitting- lack of comfort

The biggest problems we risk facing while sitting in a single position is reduced blood-flow as well as problems with the muscles and nerves.

The main purpose of active chairs is to keep you moving while you work.

Capisco was literally designed to allow you to switch between many different sitting positions, and keep that blood flowing.

The seat of the chair is definitely not as comfortable as a sofa and will not allow for sitting in one position for a long time.

This lack of comfort is something to get used to, but your body will thank you in the end.

Adjustability

We really liked how adjustable Capisco can be. You’ll be able to slide the seat forward or backward, or even change the seat tilt to your liking.

The standard adjustments work as well, you can change the height of the chair and the tension in the back.

Backward Sitting

The backward sitting is another amazing feature that distinguishes the Capisco from most of the chairs on the market.

Regardless if you’re using it at home o in the office, there’s something liberating about seating backwards and leaning on the chair.

Sitting & Standing Option

Another great thing about the Capisco chair – you can use it with a standing desk. It’s petite size will match any kind of standing desk, make sure to check out the reviews on our website.

The one that this company promotes is Jarvis, the one they created a few years after the chair.

We went through hundreds of customer experiences and we have to say that overall people really like this chair, with a few exceptions. So let’s take a look at the good and the bad.

On the positive side, people feel like this chair is helping them alleviate back and hip pain. It is versatile enough to be used for multiple purposes.

Musicians for example swear by its versatility and especially rave about the foot rest.

The opinion on the design is split, some people love it, and others say it looks unusual.

Two things that everyone agrees on – this chair keeps them active, and is an irreplaceable companion for standing desks.

On the negative side, it simply doesn’t work well for some people as they find the seat to be uncomfortable and decide to return it.

As we mentioned previously, it does take some time to build new habits and get used to this chair.

For comfort

This chair was not made to be super comfortable, it was made to keep you moving while you work, and that is a concept that takes some time to get used to.

Helping back pain

The curvature of the chair follows the natural S shape of your spine and it has been helping people alleviate their back pain. If you have an issue where you can’t sit in one position but have to work, this chair could come in quite handy.

We believe that a lot more people would use the Capisco chair, if they had a budget friendly price. But you don’t need to break the bank to live a life of active sitting.

Here are some decent alternatives that will do the trick.

Let’s take a look at 4 different saddle chairs that promote active sitting and keep you in an upright position while you work.

FRNIAMC Ergonomic Hydraulic Saddle Stool

A nice looking saddle style stool designed to help with neck, back and lumbar problems. It comes with wheels so you can roll it around. The wheels do not lock in place to avoid unhealthy body positions.

When it comes to adjustability, the FRNIAMC can be extended up to 29’’ from the ground. It is most loved by estheticians, tattoo artists and other professionals that have spend long hours sitting in a single position.

The back rest (not typical for saddle stools) is welcomed by all users and some even use it as the Capisco chair; They sit on the stool backwards and use the back rest as front support for the body.

This stool will hold up to 265 lbs of weight and comes with a 1 year warranty and a price that is somewhat acceptable.

Varier Move Tilting Saddle Stool

The brand that launched many different models of standing desks also excels in creating the active sitting experience. Varier move looks very simple, and is super easy to assemble.

Their major ergonomic point is the wobble experience – the stool literally moves as you move and can be tilted in all directions. Some people love this option and embrace the constant movement, others simply can’t get used to it.

The chair can be adjusted for height and goes up to 32 inches from the ground. The makers recommend using a rubber pad underneath if you have a smooth floor. Also the Varier stool doesn’t come with wheels. We noticed some people were thinking about placing wheels on this stool, but we have to say, that would be very dangerous.

Master Massage Adjustable Swivel Saddle Stool

Now, this is one comfortable saddle stool equipped to handle people with bigger thighs. Don’t be fooled by its tiny foot-print as it can hold up to 550 lbs. The master massage swivel stool works with a pneumatic lift and will go up to 27.5” off the ground.

The name definitely says it all, it is loved among the masseuse but it has been used widely in hair salons. The main distinction between this one and the rest is the level of comfort it provides as it is filled with 2.5 inches of cell foam that is kind to your behind.

Even the price is in a budget friendly range allowing more people to save their backs. So if you’re looking for functionality, comfort AND a good price, this would be your win-win situation.

Grace & Grace Professional Saddle Stool Series

If you liked the idea of a Master Massager stool, this one is very similar in functionality and price. There are two major differences.

The Grace & Grace chair comes with more color options whereas Master Massager only comes in black and brown. Also this one can hold up to 400 lbs which is inferior to the previous stool on our list.

While we strongly believe in the idea of active sitting, we also understand that each of us is different and needs different ergonomic options. Even if you don’t succeed adjusting to a certain chair at first do not throw active sitting out the window.

Most of these items have a 30 day return policy which gives you the freedom to experiment while looking for your perfect match.

When it comes to the Capisco chair we have to say our opinion is overwhelmingly positive. People seem to really appreciate active sitting while using it, and that’s a good sign.

It might be a bit weird looking design-wise, like it was made in space, but it gets the job done.
