Types Of Pedicure Chairs
If you’re new to this, it’s important to know about every type of pedicure chair there is before buying one that can be adapted to what you’re offering your clients.
Here are the main types of pedicure chairs you will find on the market:
Full plumbing stations
This is the most traditional unit. Full plumbing stations are easier to fill and drain but they’re more expensive to install.
No plumbing chairs
These stations do not require any plumbing at all.
You only need to plug it in and start using it. You’d need to manually fill them with water, but they’re much easier to install and you can clean it more thoroughly.
Piped pedicure stations
This refers to the foot spa, which looks like a small jacuzzi for the feet.
These stations have small pipes and jets of water to pamper your clients’ feet as they prepare to receive a pedicure.
Pipeless pedicure stations
In contrast to piped stations, these ones achieve a water massaging action through water propellers and small fans but no pipes.
Things To Consider
Besides the type of chair, we recommend considering the following features and key aspects of your purchase:
Space
Don’t get carried away by how fancy a pedicure spa chair looks. It will be useless and you will lose your money if your new chair does not fit in your available space.
Double-check the free space you have, and make sure there will be enough walking space after installing it.
Budget
There are no cheap pedicure chairs, but some of them are more expensive than others.
You might be able to find chairs under $1000 but remember your clients will sit on them so make sure it’s of high-quality and has great customer reviews.
Manufacturer
Look up the best brands for pedicure chairs and consider their models first. We recommend brands such as Continuum, J&A USA, Pibbs Industries, and Gulfstream.
Warranty
Make sure you’re reading the fine print, especially the warranty that comes with the chair. Be careful with the term “limited” warranty and find out how limited it is.
Also, find out if you can get replacement parts from the manufacturer, this is an important feature in the case of a setback.
Salon ventilation
Some foot spas and pedicure chairs come with built-in ventilation.
Features
Other features you might also want to consider:
Bowl type
You can choose between glass or fiberglass bowls, some of them even have built-in lights.
Footrest features
You can choose between a height-adjustable, pivoting, or tilting footrest, depending on your preferences or that of the technician.
